New song “Demons in Your Mouth” out now!
About us
Darvaza is a Persian word meaning “door of hell,” a dark place on the border between life and the unknown, outside of time. Darvaza is a real place, located in the Karakum Desert. It is a crater formed from the collapse of a network of underground galleries, where natural gas burns continuously. People say that dark sounds emanate from Darvaza, associating them with the demons of their popular traditions being trapped in the flames. It is from those sounds that the Wave of our music originates.
Darvaza Wave is a dark rock band with gothic, new-wave, post-punk, and electronic influences. Formed in Northern Italy in 2015, Darvaza Wave has evolved, leading to a production characterized by martial rhythms of drums and bass, merging keyboards, powerful and effected guitars, and electronic elements. This creates a direct and energetic impact, but also a catchy and sometimes dreamy atmosphere. In recent years, their music has been strongly influenced by the culture and gothic tradition of Scandinavia, where two members of the band live.
Darvaza Wave believes in the collaboration of different art and expression forms. Their production has often been inspired by existing cults or forms of art, such as movies (e.g., “The Crow”), novels (e.g., H.P. Lovecraft stories), or mysteries of history and religions. With this view, they love to cooperate with other forms of art such as visual arts, dance, cinema, and acting performances.
